Ugly Stick Workshop

Ugly Stick Workshops

Sunday December 9th 2012 | 1 – 5pm | Victoria Park Poolhouse

Tuesday December 11th 2012 | 7 – 9:30pm | Victoria Park Poolhouse

That ugly stick is some ugly. And what a racket. But at the Mummers Parade your ugly stick will be the most beautiful, sweet sounding instrument there ever was. We want to make some noise at the Parade and this is just the thing to do it.

The ugly stick has played a role in Newfoundland party times throughout the years. It’s about four feet long, on which bottle caps, tin cans, small bells and other noisemakers are attached. It is played by thumping the stick, and striking its attachments with a drumstick.

Make an ugly stick at one of our two workshops and bang it around at the Mummers Parade.

Workshops are free. $10 suggested donation. BYOB: Bring your own boot (or sneaker)!
